Revitalizing Marine Integrity: Stern Tube Seal Solutions in Algeciras and Antwerp

Our diver/technician teams recently tackled stern tube seal replacements on ships in Belgium and Spain. Teh first job was on a 225-meter container ship in Algeciras, followed by a 295-meter RoRo vessel in Antwerp.
Both vessels had oil leaks that required urgent repairs. Thanks to our flexible mobdocks, we managed to perform the necessary work underwater, saving time and avoiding expensive drydocking.

This method allows us to replace shaft seals underwater,regardless of thier type or size. If not addressed promptly, faulty stern tube seals can lead to serious oil leaks or water ingress issues. By tackling these problems early on, we help reduce downtime and avoid further complications.

Keeps ships Running Smoothly
Once we got the green light for the operation in Algeciras, preparations were swift as we mobilized lightweight equipment from our rapid-response center.
The diving crew set up a monitoring station next to the vessel before conducting an extensive inspection of the stern tube seal assembly and removing any obstructions like rope guards.
The divers then cleaned everything thoroughly before installing the flexible mobdock—creating a dry workspace that mimicked drydock conditions under water. After cleaning parts like split rings at surface level, they replaced seals one by one with precision.
the operation wrapped up successfully with leakage tests confirming everything was sealed tight before removing the mobdock and reinstalling protective covers.

A short while later, another team headed over to Antwerp for similar work on the roro vessel using identical procedures as those employed in Algeciras—resulting in triumphant seal replacements without any oil leaks! p>
