Indonesian Navy commissions locally built corvette into service
The ship honours Mohammad Hatta, Indonesia's first Vice President and third Prime Minister. It measures 80.3 by 12.6 metres and is crewed by 82 officers and enlisted sailors while the propulsion delivers a top speed of 25 knots. A flight deck is also available for use by an AS565 multi-role helicopter.
The armament presently consists of a Bofors 57mm naval gun, which may be replaced by a 76mm gun in the future, whereas sister ship Bung Karno's main gun is a 40mm weapon. Additional weapons will include 20mm autocannons, torpedoes, and surface-to-surface and surface-to-air missiles.
