These courses are designed to onboard newcomers into the maritime sector, enhance engineers’ grasp of ship stability and design, and boost cybersecurity knowledge for both crew members and IT professionals. Founded in 2009,ClassNK Academy aims to leverage insights from ship surveys and management audits to equip those in shipbuilding,maintainance,or operations with essential skills.in 2024 alone, over 2,000 participants globally engaged with the Academy’s programs—an remarkable testament to its role in shaping industry talent.
The latest iteration of e-learning includes “Introduction to Shipping and Shipbuilding” tailored for new hires and aspiring professionals. There’s also a “Step-up Course on Shipping and Shipbuilding,” which features three modules aimed at young engineers working within shipyards. Additionally, a complete ‘Maritime Cybersecurity Course’ is available as four segments specifically designed for IT staff and seafarers involved in operational tasks.These courses have been refreshed based on recent developments and participant feedback.
The e-learning format allows users to learn at their own pace on computers or smartphones—perfect for busy schedules! The content is rich with videos and images that enhance understanding. To ensure progress is being made, comprehension tests are included along with tracking capabilities for companies that want to monitor their employees’ learning journeys; certificates of completion can also be issued upon finishing a course.
