Norfolk Southern Launches Scholarships for Vocational Training Opportunities
According to a recent announcement from Norfolk Southern, the company is rolling out Trades on Track scholarships aimed at vocational students across it’s extensive network spanning 22 states.
Each scholarship amounts to $5,000 and can be utilized for various educational expenses such as tuition fees, computer gear, tools, and more. Interested applicants have until September 30 to submit their applications.
“To foster ongoing success in our industry, we are committed to nurturing the future generation of railroad professionals through top-notch training programs and competitive benefits,” shared Kristin Wong, who heads the Norfolk Southern Foundation & Community Impact. “We want to create pathways that lead to sustainable growth.”
The SkillPointe Foundation based in Atlanta is managing this initiative. “Partnering with a leader like Norfolk Southern allows us to shine a light on career opportunities within the essential railroad sector,” remarked Alvin Townley, Founding Executive director. “This initiative not only broadens access for those seeking training but also helps cultivate a skilled workforce crucial for maintaining America’s economic momentum.”
