XCR Airport: Embracing a New Era of Travel Innovation
According to a recent publication by Châlons Vatry Airport, this facility is emerging as a go-to option for e-commerce, perishables, and last-minute charter flights as larger airports struggle with congestion.
With the increasing need for flexible cargo solutions, Châlons Vatry Airport (XCR) is carving out its niche in the regional market. It aims to be more than just an alternative to France’s busy main airports.
“We aspire to be the first choice,” states Fabrice Pauquet, the airport’s managing director.”Our goal isn’t just to be a backup.”
XCR focuses on operational efficiency and adaptability. Its one of the few French airports that operates 24/7 without noise restrictions—an uncommon benefit in Europe that provides charter operators with greater scheduling options.
“We can accommodate all types of cargo,” Pauquet explains.”Our primary aim is to become the top pick for carriers involved in e-commerce and charter services targeting France.”
Differing from many airports that rely on multiple third-party providers, XCR has adopted a vertically integrated model. “We handle everything—from airport operations to ramp handling and ground services,” Pauquet elaborates. “This unique setup offers clients a single point of contact.”
This structure allows XCR to quickly adapt pricing and flight planning based on operator needs. “We’re adjusting our rates to ensure we offer competitive pricing,” he adds, aiming at lowering direct operating costs for carriers.
E-commerce Fuels Expansion
The airport has experienced consistent growth in e-commerce traffic, which serves as its main driver of expansion despite geopolitical tensions—especially between major players like the US and China—that add uncertainty.
“E-commerce remains robust even amid diplomatic challenges,” notes Pauquet. “Chinese clients are cautious about new routes.”
A strategic Advantage
Yet XCR’s operational profile aligns well with e-commerce demands for speed and flexibility due to its spacious infrastructure free from congestion issues.
With room for expansion and minimal operational delays, it acts as an essential outlet for e-commerce capacity across France when larger hubs face overload or curfews.
By 2025, XCR plans significant upgrades including expanding temperature-controlled storage facilities ideal for high-value perishables like pharmaceuticals or sensitive electronics.
“We’re investing in year-round +15°C/+25°C storage capabilities,” confirms Pauquet.
Pursuing Perishable Imports
This initiative coincides with efforts aimed at establishing XCR as a key entry point for perishable goods from Africa following connections made during industry conferences.
“The perishable sector is one area we’re keen on developing,” says Pauquet. “After attending ACW Africa recently, we’ve established valuable contacts.”
p > While physical improvements are crucial,
Pauquet emphasizes that behind-the-scenes enhancements will also play an important role moving forward.
“From 2025 onwards we’ll pursue ISO and CEIV certifications,” he mentions regarding compliance standards increasingly sought after by global logistics firms.
A Flexible Approach
XCR’s model thrives on flexibility; it accommodates not only scheduled flights but also short-notice charters often overlooked by larger facilities.
“honestly speaking , cooperation here works well across various requests ,” says Pauquet . “ We have resources ready when flights are booked .”
This adaptability makes it appealing especially among smaller carriers seeking customized solutions without facing rigid schedules or bureaucratic hurdles typical at bigger platforms .
“ We strive hard towards providing personalized service even during last-minute charters , ” adds pauque t .
A Pragmatic Digital Strategy
X CR ’s digital change initiatives stand out amidst industry jargon surrounding AI & blockchain ; they focus rather upon practical applications .
“Digitalization will take center stage around 2025-2026 , ” pauque t shares . “ We’re collaborating with local tech firms monitoring ground operations effectively.”
The emphasis lies not merely upon technology itself but rather delivering real-time updates & accurate performance metrics directly benefiting customers’ experiences too!
“ This tool enables clients access live timings along correct performance stats regarding our team’s efficiency , ” he explains further !
