As reported by Railway Gazette International, Navoi Mining & Metallurgical Co in Uzbekistan has recently acquired 15 type 61-933 coaches to facilitate the transportation of it’s workforce between Zarafshon and the Muruntau gold mine.

These coaches, crafted at the Toshkent Car Repair Plant, bear a resemblance to conventional electric multiple-unit vehicles commonly seen in regions with a 1,520 mm gauge. However, they will be pulled by locomotives rather than operating independently.

Each coach is designed to accommodate up to 160 passengers with comfortable seating for 110. They are equipped with climate control and heating systems tailored for the harsh weather conditions typical of this area.
