Tesla Sees First Surge in China Deliveries of 2025 This June
According to a recent report from China’s Passenger Car Association, Tesla Inc. has experienced its first uptick in vehicle deliveries from its Shanghai facility this year, likely aided by the resolution of regulatory challenges surrounding its advanced driver-assistance technologies.
In June alone, the automaker shipped out 71,599 vehicles from this plant. This figure represents a slight increase of 0.8% compared to last year and marks a notable rise of 16% since May.
This modest growth could indicate a pivotal moment for Tesla in China, especially as it faces fierce competition in an ongoing price war within the electric vehicle sector. Recently introduced government guidelines may facilitate broader implementation of Tesla’s sophisticated driver assistance systems, which could provide an essential advantage in a market that increasingly values smart automotive technology.
The Shanghai factory is crucial for Tesla’s global supply chain, especially for exports to Europe where maintaining sales momentum has been challenging due to rising competition and geopolitical issues.
Furthermore, total sales of new-energy vehicles—including both fully electric and plug-in hybrid models—are projected to have surged by 29% year-on-year in June, reaching approximately 1.26 million units sold to dealers across China according to PCA data.
