A recent publication by NYK Line highlights a remarkable rescue operation that took place on June 19,2025,when the bulk carrier Medi Giannutri came to the aid of two sailors stranded on a disabled sailboat in the vast pacific Ocean. This operation was coordinated by the US Coast Guard.

While making its way to Long Beach, California, the ship received an urgent call from the Coast Guard regarding a maritime emergency. Without hesitation,Captain Terletsky Daniil and his crew adjusted their course to reach those in distress.

The rescue mission was accomplished; both sailors were found safe and sound. They were brought aboard Medi Giannutri and later disembarked at long Beach on June 23.

Medi Giannutri is an impressive vessel measuring 235 meters long and 38 meters wide, with a gross tonnage of 89,365 metric tons.It sails under the Liberian flag and is primarily engaged in transporting large volumes of unpackaged cargo such as coal, grain, or ore.

This incident not only showcases the bravery of maritime crews but also emphasizes how vital international cooperation is during emergencies at sea. The swift response from both NYK Line’s team and US Coast Guard exemplifies how teamwork can save lives in critical situations.
