FedEx Launches Direct Air Service Connecting South Korea and Taiwan

According to a recent proclamation from Federal Express Corporation, a leading player in the global express transportation sector, a new direct flight route has been launched to enhance links between South Korea and Taiwan. This initiative aims to improve service capacity and reliability, which is essential for exporters and importers operating in this vital trade corridor known for its high-tech industry focus.

The newly established route connects south Korea through the FedEx Incheon Gateway at Incheon International Airport with Taiwan via the FedEx taipei Gateway at Taoyuan International Airport. With flights scheduled seven times weekly, this marks an exciting first for direct air travel between these two nations, providing greater versatility and dependability.

Moreover, businesses in South Korea will enjoy extended call-in cut-off times and gateway drop-off hours—up to 3.5 hours longer—for air freight shipments utilizing FedEx International Priority Freight and FedEx International priority economy services.

“This new direct flight reflects our dedication to our clients by facilitating increased trade between South Korea and Taiwan,” stated Wonbin Park, managing director of FedEx Korea. “The demand is especially strong in sectors like electronics, semiconductors, and e-commerce driven by K-culture products.”

“Having capacity, flexibility, and reliability is key for creating resilient supply chains. This new route empowers our customers with better opportunities for cross-border business growth across the Asia Pacific region.”

The trade relationship between South Korea and Taiwan remains strong—especially within the semiconductor field—as both countries are stepping up their collaboration on AI supply chains amid a global boom in artificial intelligence progress. Notably, South Korea ranks as taiwan’s fifth-largest export market while also being its fourth-largest source of imports.

Citing figures from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE), it was reported that South Korean semiconductor exports hit an remarkable USD 141.9 billion in 2024 alone. Between January and November of that year, exports of chips to Taiwan surged from 6.4% in 2020 to an impressive 14.5%. As this sector continues its rapid expansion, the new flight route is expected to further enhance connectivity for manufacturers within high-tech industries while contributing positively to economic growth in Korea.

This latest addition aligns with fedex’s ongoing strategy aimed at bolstering its international air network capabilities. Just last December 2024 saw another significant flight introduced connecting Asia Pacific with India and Europe; earlier still—in April 2025—the company launched its inaugural direct service from singapore straight into anchorage U.S., enhancing ties between Southeast Asia’s markets with major U.S destinations.
