Passengers onboard Ocean Explorer were scared when waves towering almost 40 feet crashed into the cruise ship.

This happened while it was crossing the treacherous Drake Passage, a 600 mile channel between Antarctica and the tip of South America, while coming back from a trip to the icy cold continent.

The water body is famous for its unpredictable, rough weather and strong waves, a result of the waters from the Atlantic, Pacific and Southern Oceans flowing into it.

Video footage showed the terrified passengers as massive waves rocked the ship. The scenes from the ship resembled something out of the movie Poseidon Adventure.

Thankfully, unlike the movie, this was safe and nobody lost their lives. Passengers were instructed to remain in their cabins for the whole afternoon, as a precautionary measure.

While some people felt a sense of adventure, terming it a trip of their lifetime, other sea sick guests begged to differ, as seen from their posts on social media handles like Instagram.

Some even said they would never go
