

The bulk carrier Medi Giannutri, operated by NYK Line, Japan’s largest shipping company, rescued two sailors from a disabled sailboat in the Pacific Ocean on June 19, 2025, according to a search and rescue operation coordinated by the US Coast Guard.
The vessel was en route to the US port of Long Beach when it received an urgent request from the Coast Guard to assist in a maritime emergency.
The ship altered it course without any delay and proceeded to the location of the distressed vessel.
The two sailors were successfully rescued and later confirmed to be in good health. They were safely brought aboard Medi Giannutri and disembarked at Long Beach on June 23.
The vessel is commanded by Captain Terletsky Daniil and sails under the Liberian flag. It measures 235 meters in length and 38 meters in breadth, with a gross tonnage of 89,365 metric tons.
