New Thessaloniki Metro Extension Date in Feb. 2026

An extension of the recently inaugurated metro line in Thessaloniki towards Kalamaria, a populous district east of the city’s center, will be ready in February 2026, according to announcements made after a meeting in the northern city on Friday by relevant ministry officials with the mass transit system’s management and representatives of contractors.

A previous date for the opening of the extension was December 2025.

Additionally, the Egnatia Odos tollway extending across the breadth of northern Greece, will be transferred at the end of the year to the concessionaire, GEK Terna, which submitted the highest bid in an international tender for the long-term concession.
