Import prices in the industrial sector recorded a 4.2% year-on-year decline
Import prices in the industrial sector recorded a 4.2% year-on-year decline in May 2025, according to data released by the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT).
More specifically, the General Import Price Index in Industry fell by 4.2% compared to May 2024, when it had increased by 2.8% compared to the same month in 2023.
On a monthly basis, the index dropped by 0.7% in May 2025 compared to April 2025, following a sharper monthly decline of 2.8% in the same period of the previous year.
Over the twelve-month period from June 2024 to May 2025, the average General Index decreased by 2.8% compared to the corresponding twelve-month period from June 2023 to May 2024, which had shown a more significant drop of 8.1%.
The 4.2% annual decrease in the Import Price Index for May 2025 is primarily attributed to:
A 7.3% decline in the Import Price Index from non-Eurozone countries.
No change in the Import Price Index from Eurozone countries.
The 0.7% decrease in the General Import Price Index for Industry in May 2025 compared to April 2025 is attributed to:
A 1.3% drop in the Import Price Index from non-Eurozone countries.
A slight 0.1% increase in the Import Price
