U.S. Border Patrol officers shot and killed a person in Minneapolis

U.S. Border Patrol officers shot and killed a person in Minneapolis Saturday, authorities said, in a city already on edge after the killing of a woman by a federal immigration agent two weeks ago.

The Homeland Security Department said the person shot approached officers with a handgun. “The officers attempted to disarm the suspect but the armed suspect violently resisted,” Homeland Security said. “More details on the armed struggle are forthcoming.”

The person was pronounced dead on the scene, Homeland Security said.

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz called Saturday’s shooting “horrific” and “sickening” on social media and said he was in contact with the White House.

“The President must end this operation. Pull the thousands of violent, untrained officers out of Minnesota. Now,” Walz said.

I just spoke with the White House after another horrific shooting by federal agents this morning. Minnesota has had it. This is sickening.

The President must end this operation. Pull the thousands of violent, untrained officers out of Minnesota. Now.
