President Donald Trump said Saturday he is raising a global tariff

President Donald Trump said Saturday he is raising a global tariff to 15%, up from 10%, following a Supreme Court decision that struck down most of his second-term trade duties.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said the increase would take effect immediately. He described the move as the result of a “thorough, detailed, and complete review” of what he called a “ridiculous, poorly written, and extraordinarily anti-American” decision issued a day earlier by the United States Supreme Court.

Tariff Increase Takes Effect Immediately

Trump said the new rate would lift the existing 10% worldwide tariff on countries to the “fully allowed, and legally tested” 15% level.

He argued that many countries had been “ripping” off the United States for decades “without retribution,” adding that his administration had changed that dynamic.

The president framed the increase as a direct response to the court’s ruling, which overturned most of the tariffs imposed during his second term.
