Athens has taken a significant step in its urban greening efforts with the planting of 500 new trees in Ilisia Park on February 17. The initiative, supported by the NGO “SYNESSIS – PIGI,” forms part of the city’s ongoing plan to enhance green spaces across the capital.

Mayor Charis Doukas highlighted the importance of the program, saying the city is “intensively continuing the planting program for the new year, strengthening major green areas to improve the quality of life for residents and visitors.” Volunteers participated in planting 200 tamarisks, 50 cedars, 50 strawberry trees, and 200 maples in strategic locations throughout the park.
