Seatrium secures bp contract for Tiber FPU in Gulf of Mexico
Seatrium has received a contract from BP Exploration and Production (bp) for the engineering, procurement, construction and onshore commissioning of the Tiber floating production unit (FPU) in the Gulf of Mexico (GoM).
This contract follows a memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed between Seatrium and bp in February for the Tiber FPU project.

It represents Seatrium’s second consecutive deep-water assignment for bp, following the award of the Kaskida FPU in December last year.
The Tiber FPU is designed with a production capacity of 80,000 barrels of crude oil per day and will feature advanced technologies to improve operational efficiency and safety.
It will process oil from the Tiber and Guadalupe fields in the Keathley Canyon area of the GoM, approximately 300 miles (482km) south-west of New Orleans, in water depths of around 4,100ft.

Seatrium will replicate more than 85% of the Tiber FPU design from the Kaskida FPU, using established design processes and incorporating best practices for enhanced project implementation.
This approach is intended to improve supply chain management through standardised procurement and coordinated planning across both projects.
The replication strategy will see Seatrium tap key engineering and commissioning partners, along with equipment suppliers, to maintain consistency and efficiency in project execution.
Seatrium will employ its single-lift integration method, using its Goliath twin cranes, for the installation of the topside for the Tiber FPU.
The twin cranes have a combined lifting capacity of 30,000 tonnes.
This method enables the topside to be completed and tested at ground level before installation, maximising project readiness and operational reliability.
The Tiber FPU joins a series of FPUs delivered or under construction by Seatrium for global energy operators.
This project follows the ongoing construction of Shell’s Sparta and bp’s Kaskida FPUs, as well as the successful completion of Shell’s Vito and Whale newbuild FPUs in 2021 and 2023, respectively.
