Pakistan halts trade and closes borders with India

Pakistan has suspended all trade with India and shut its airspace and land borders in response to sanctions imposed by New Delhi.
The measures follow a deadly attack in Indian-administered Kashmir on 22 April that left at least 26 people dead.
Despite limited trade between the two countries, maritime data from analytics firm Windward shows that 520 vessel port calls occurred between Pakistan and India over the past six months.
In the last financial year, Pakistan imported US$1.2 billion worth of goods from India, while India’s imports from Pakistan totaled just US$3 million.
