CMA CGM flags first boxship in India, boosting nation’s maritime push

India’s maritime ambitions are gaining new momentum as the country strategically positions itself to become a global shipping and logistics powerhouse.
In a landmark development, French shipping giant CMA CGM has registered its first Indian-flagged container ship, CMA CGM Vitoria.
With a capacity of 2,592 TEUs, the vessel is now serving India under the group’s BIGEX network, offering direct weekly services linking Indian ports like Nhava Sheva and Mundra with the Gulf and the Red Sea.
The move marks a significant milestone in India’s efforts to boost its national shipping fleet and foster a stronger domestic maritime sector.
