CMA CGM expands air cargo fleet with Air Belgium acquisition

French shipping giant CMA CGM has finalized its purchase of Air Belgium, adding four cargo aircraft to its rapidly growing airfreight division.

With this acquisition, CMA CGM’s total air fleet now numbers nine planes, though the Air Belgium brand will continue to operate under its existing name.

“This acquisition represents a significant milestone in our strategy to grow CMA CGM’s air cargo capabilities across Europe and globally,” noted Damien Mazaudier, executive vice president of CMA CGM Air Cargo. “It boosts our immediate capacity and helps us respond more effectively to today’s logistics challenges.”

The company’s fleet is also set to grow further with the near-term addition of a Boeing 777F, and a major expansion planned from 2027, when eight new Airbus A350Fs are scheduled to join the lineup.
