Container throughput slows at Port of Melbourne

The Port of Melbourne handled 267,000 TEUs in March, marking a 6.2% decline compared to the same month in the previous year.
Full container imports (excluding Bass Strait trade) dropped 10.5% to 99,000 TEUs, while exports fell 6.2% to 62,000 TEUs. Bass Strait volumes accounted for 17,000 TEUs during the month.
Despite the March slowdown, year-to-date volumes from July to March rose by 5% year-on-year, reaching a total of 2.55 million TEUs.
