CMA CGM expands rail Connectivity between Marseille and Lyon

CMA CGM is further enhancing its support for modal shift initiatives by expanding rail services between Marseille and Lyon, serving the wider Rhône-Alpes region.
This strategic move is following the recent upgrade to our Fos–Lyon intermodal barge service, and it’s designed to meet rising demand while increasing service frequency, improving cost efficiency, and delivering significant environmental benefits.
The rail transport offers a 75% reduction in CO₂ emissions compared to road transport, supporting greener supply chains.
There will be up to 5 weekly train departures in both directions, while, there is also direct links to 8 core ocean services covering key trade corridors including North Africa, West Med, East Med, and the West Indies.
The export time from Lyon to Marseille will be in 2 days with the correspoding import being 3 days.
The optimized export transit from Lyon to Casablanca will be 7 days, to Tunis 5 days, to Alger 12 days and to Pointe-à-Pitre 12 days.
The import transit to Lyon will be 15 from Ambarli, 5 days from Genoa, 4 days from Barcelona and 9 days from Malta.
