Construction begins on CO₂ backbone in Antwerp port through joint initiative by Fluxys Belgium, Pipelink, and Air Liquide

Fluxys Belgium, Pipelink, and Air Liquide have partnered to launch Fluxys c-grid Antwerp, a joint venture dedicated to developing and operating a CO₂ pipeline network within the Port of Antwerp.
This infrastructure will link industrial facilities to permanent underground carbon storage solutions, forming a critical component of the CO₂ value chain in the region.
The pipeline network will enable the safe and efficient transport of captured CO₂ from industrial sites in Antwerp and potentially from other regions to the Antwerp@C CO₂ Export Hub and other key connection points across adjacent networks.
Fluxys c-grid Antwerp reflects the shared commitment of its founding partners to support the transition toward a low-carbon industrial future.
Construction of the first phase is already underway and is scheduled for completion by the end of 2026.
The project is backed by the European Commission’s Connecting Europe Facility for Energy (CEF-E) and VLAIO, the Flemish Agency for Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
Further network expansion will be driven by market demand in the coming years, with the flexibility to connect to the wider Flemish CO₂ backbone and cross-border systems with neighboring countries.
