Green shipping corridors as maritime pivot for operational efficiency

As the maritime industry grapples with the dual challenge of decarbonization and geopolitical volatility, green shipping corridors have emerged as a transformative force.
In 2024, the world counted 62 green corridor initiatives, representing a 40% increase from the previous year, according to the Singapore Shipping Forum 2023 Post-Event Report.
The most recent initiative was that of China’s Ningbo-Zhoushan Port, partnered with Germany’s Hamburg and Wilhelmshaven ports, as well as the Spanish port of Valencia, to establish transcontinental green corridors.
