Idle containership fleet sees slight decline

In the two weeks leading up to 2 June, the global idle containership fleet saw a net reduction in capacity, despite a rise in the number of laid-up vessels.

While three additional ships were added to the lay-up list, overall idle capacity fell by 15,300 TEU, bringing the total to 71 ships with a combined capacity of 185,200 TEU to 0.6% of the total fleet.

Meanwhile, the number of vessels in repair yards decreased by three ships and 15,000 TEU, with the total standing at 217 ships and 866,800 TEU.
