Saudi Global Ports Takes Over Key Terminals

Saudi Global Ports Group (SGP) has officially begun operations at several major multipurpose terminals along the Eastern Coast of Saudi Arabia, following the start of its 20-year concession agreements with the Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) on July 1, 202

The newly assumed terminals include facilities at King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam (KAPD), Jubail Commercial Port (JCP), King Fahad Industrial Port in Jubail (KFIP), and Ras Al-Khair Port (RAK). These sites play a crucial role in supporting the Kingdom’s core industries, including energy, petrochemicals, construction, and mining, as well as the country’s broader economic development plans.

The consolidation of operations under one entity (Modern Port Services Company Limited (SGP Multipurpose Terminals, or SGPMP), a subsidiary of SGP), is part of a larger effort by Mawani to streamline port services and enhance logistics efficiency across the region.

SGPMP says it is working closely with Mawani to roll out development plans aimed at improving safety, operational resilience, and service delivery at the terminals. The company plans to draw on its prior success in modernizing operations at King Abdulaziz Port Dammam and Riyadh Dry Port, and will also benefit from the technical support of PSA International, its global partner with a strong track record in multipurpose terminal operations.

“This marks a significant milestone for Saudi Global Ports,” said Rob Harrison, CEO of the group. “We’re honored by the confidence Mawani and our stakeholders have placed in us. Our commitment is to raise the standards of port infrastructure and unlock greater value across the Kingdom’s logistics ecosystem.”

SGP has pledged an investment of over SAR 700 million (approximately USD 187 million) into the four terminals, underlining its long-term commitment to transforming port operations and supporting Saudi Arabia’s position as a regional trade and logistics hub.
