Iranian firm moves to acquire Russian Caspian port terminal

According to Reuters, Iran’s Nasim Bahr Kish has submitted an offer to acquire full ownership of Russia’s Astrakhan Port, including the 25% stake held by the Russian state.
Astrakhan Port operates a key terminal on the Caspian Sea, in the southern Russian city of Astrakhan. The proposed deal, valued at approximately US$5.6 million, would give the Iranian firm full control of the terminal, which handles shipments of grain, metals, timber, and fertilizers.
The move underscores Tehran’s expanding footprint in Russia’s export infrastructure, as the two countries strengthen economic ties under Western sanctions. The news was first reported by Russian outlet Kommersant, as cited by Reuters.
