Maersk implement PSS on US & Canada west coast routes

Maersk has announced an upcoming Peak Season Surcharge (PSS) for shipments from the Indian Subcontinent and Middle East to the West Coast of the United States and Canada. The surcharge will take effect on August 1, 2025, and applies to cargo originating from several countries across the region.
Affected countries include the United Arab Emirates, Bangladesh, Bahrain, Bhutan, India, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Nepal, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Yemen.
The revised surcharge will apply to specific container types, and will be levied in addition to other applicable charges, including local and contingency surcharges.
The revised tariff levels are as follows:
Middle East & Indian Subcontinent to US and Canadian West Coast:
Container Size Type | New Rate |
---|---|
All Dry Containers |
$1700 |
All Reefer Containers |
$3000 |
Maersk noted that these updates align with international regulatory standards and will not affect any existing published tariffs unless they are incorporated into a filed service contract with the U.S. Federal Maritime Commission or the Shanghai Shipping Exchange.
