Hapag-Lloyd is pushing the growth of its Indian terminal joint venture with Mumbai-based J M Baxi Group

The German group owns 40% of J M Baxi Ports & Logistics, which operates a clutch of marine terminals across ports in India.

Hapag-Lloyd has finalised plans to launch a new shuttle service from Kandla port, one of the JV terminal locations, to the Middle East to support diversified operations, according to industry sources.

The port rotation will be Jebel Ali – Kandla – Jebel Ali – Shuaiba – Shuwaikh – Jebel Ali, offering a weekly frequency.

The standalone loop is expected to begin out of Kandla with a late July sailing, sources say.

Vessels will have a weekly allocation of 550 TEUs for loadings out of Kandla.
