Vestdavit acquired by Fairbanks Morse Defense

Vestdavit has been acquired by Fairbanks Morse Defense (FMD), part of Arcline Investment Management. The deal marks a new growth phase for the Bergen-based davit specialist.
FMD now owns 100% of Vestdavit. The company’s founders, Atle Kalve and Jan Sverre Røsstad, together with CEO Rolf Andreas Wigand and Ove Røssland, built Vestdavit into a global supplier of boat-handling systems. Wigand will remain as CEO.
“After years of strong growth, this is the right time to join a larger group,” Wigand said. “FMD will support our strategy while helping us scale.”
FMD plans to use Vestdavit as a center of excellence for davit technology. It also sees the acquisition as a platform for European expansion.
“Vestdavit is a trusted name in advanced davit systems,” said FMD CEO Steve Pykett. “Together, we can expand customer support and build on its legacy of innovation.”
Vestdavit was founded in 1982 and has grown steadily. The company has expanded its production in Poland and secured some of its largest-ever contracts. In 2024, order intake reached NOK 380 million, marking a third consecutive year of record sales.
