MPC Containerships orders two 1,600 TEU vessels

MPC Containerships has placed an order for two 1,600 TEU containerships at Fujian Mawei Shipyard in China, valued at USD 16.5 million each. The agreement also includes an unspecified number of optional units.

The vessels are scheduled for delivery in the second half of 2027 and have already been fixed on eight-year time charters, with options for an additional two years, to an unnamed global liner.

This latest contract reflects MPC Containerships’ continued focus on expanding and modernizing its fleet with efficient, mid-sized tonnage to meet sustained demand in regional and feeder trades.
