Rhenus expands heavy-lift capacity in Cuxhaven with new LHM 600 Crane

Rhenus Logistics has strengthened its terminal operations in Cuxhaven with the addition of a new Liebherr LHM 600 mobile harbour crane, marking a major investment in heavy-lift capabilities and support for the region’s fast-growing wind energy sector.

With a lifting capacity of up to 202.5 tons and full mobility across five berths, the crane enables efficient handling of large and complex project cargo. It joins two 85-ton reachstackers, forming a powerful and sustainable system designed to meet future logistics demands.

The new crane is part of a broader terminal expansion that adds 19 hectares of space and 600 meters of quay length, positioning Cuxhaven as a key hub for heavy-lift and renewable energy logistics in Northern Europe.

In a tribute to a long-standing colleague, the crane has been named “Peter”, in honour of Hans-Peter Zint, who led the Cuxhaven site for more than 15 years. His leadership and vision were instrumental in shaping the terminal’s success before his retirement in 2022.

Through continuous investment in performance and sustainability, Rhenus is preparing to meet growing demand and contribute to Europe’s clean energy transition.
