Sea Legend completes first journey via Northern Sea Route
Sea Legend has successfully completed its first voyage from China to Northern Europe via the Northern Sea Route (NSR), according to DynaLiners. The 4,900 TEU containership operated the DL 31/25 service, sailing from Qingdao, Shanghai, and Ningbo to Felixstowe, Hamburg, Gdansk, and Rotterdam.
The voyage took twenty days, two more than initially planned, yet still significantly shorter than traditional routes through the Suez Canal or around the Cape of Good Hope. This marks an important milestone for Sea Legend as it explores alternative trade corridors between Asia and Europe.
With the winter season approaching, no further NSR sailings are scheduled for this year. However, the carrier has confirmed plans to resume operations along the Arctic route in 2026, reflecting growing interest in the NSR’s potential to offer reduced transit times and fuel savings during navigable months.
