GEODIS joins EU I3FLOAT project to boost floating wind innovation

GEODIS has joined the European I3FLOAT consortium, a major initiative co-funded by the European Union under the Interregional Innovation Investments (I3) program. As a technology supplier, GEODIS will provide expertise in transport, logistics, and installation planning over the project’s 36-month duration.

The I3FLOAT consortium brings together 24 partners from eight European regions to strengthen and scale up the floating offshore wind value chain. The program is organized around four Innovation Hubs in the Basque Country, Andalusia, Occitania/Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, and Flanders, each focusing on advancing technologies in the sector.

GEODIS contributes to the French Innovation Hub, led by EOLINK, a pioneer in pyramidal floating-wind turbine technology. EOLINK’s lightweight design uses fewer materials and supports high-capacity turbines, offering a cost-effective, globally deployable solution. GEODIS will optimize the transport and logistics of EOLINK’s floaters, leveraging its expertise in complex heavy-lift logistics and project engineering.

“This participation in the I3FLOAT project builds on GEODIS’ proven capabilities in offshore wind logistics,” said Nicolas Bonnier, Global Manager Offshore Wind Solutions, Project Logistics at GEODIS. “After successfully managing the transport and float-off of three floating wind foundations for the EFGL project in the Mediterranean, we are delighted to extend our collaboration with EOLINK in this ambitious European initiative.”
