Greek shipowners expand orderbooks

Greek shipowners continue to strengthen their presence in the global container sector with a new wave of fleet expansion orders, according to DynaLiners.

Costamare, a leading non-operating owner, has exercised options for two additional 3,100 TEU containerships at Zhoushan Changhong International Shipyard. With this move, the company’s orderbook for this class of vessel now totals six units, with four slated for delivery in 2027 and two in 2028.

Meanwhile, Latsco Shipping, an affiliate of Marla Investments, has also confirmed two more 1,900 TEU vessels at Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding, bringing its total order to four units. Deliveries for Latsco’s series are planned between June and August 2028.

Together, these fresh orders underscore Greek shipowners’ ongoing commitment to fleet modernization and their growing focus on mid-sized, fuel-efficient tonnage to meet evolving global trade and environmental demands.
