Damen acquires UK-based I.M.E Group

Damen has acquired Southampton-based I.M.E Group Ltd, strengthening its UK services network. The two companies have collaborated closely since Damen Services opened its UK Service Hub in 2021.

The acquisition expands Damen’s ability to provide full lifecycle support to UK clients. Customers will now have access to on-site support, mechanical and electrical engineering, docking services, parts supply, and maintenance for Damen and non-Damen vessels.

Edwin van der Poel, Director at Damen Services UK, said the move builds on years of close cooperation. “By bringing I.M.E into the Damen Services family, we take the next step in developing our UK services. Clients can count on seamless, round-the-clock support,” he said.

Paul Langford, Founder and Managing Director of I.M.E, said the partnership feels like a natural fit. “Joining Damen Services gives us greater reach and resources. We look forward to continuing to deliver exceptional service,” he added.

Damen opened its UK Service Hub in Southampton for fast, local support to operators of Damen vessels. I.M.E, founded in 2006, specializes in 24/7 repair and maintenance for maritime and energy clients. The two companies have shared clients and facilities for years, formalizing their partnership with a 2023 MoU.

Damen Services UK recently opened a new office in Portchester, next to a docking site with synchrolift facilities, further enhancing support for local clients.
