Maersk appoints new Managing Director for India

Maersk has appointed Thomas Theeuwes as its new Managing Director for India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, effective 1 January 2026. He will succeed Christopher Cook, who has been named the incoming Managing Director for Maersk in the United Kingdom and Ireland.

Theeuwes brings close to 20 years of global leadership experience to the role. Since joining Maersk in Belgium in 2007, he has held senior commercial and operational positions across Europe, China and Africa. Most recently, he served as Managing Director for the West Africa Area, a role he has held since 2024. During that time, he led high-performing teams, strengthened market presence, and aligned regional growth initiatives with West Africa’s economic development.

Thomas is a seasoned leader, and his experience from various parts of the world will aid our growth in this region,” said Richard Morgan, Managing Director, Indian Subcontinent, Middle East and Africa. Morgan also acknowledged the contribution of Christopher Cook, adding: “Christopher has been pivotal in operationalising our long-term strategy and delivering exceptional growth across India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. His leadership has positioned us strongly for the next phase of development, and we look forward to his continued success in his new role.”

Maersk described the transition as a strategic step aligned with the company’s long-term growth ambitions across South Asia, reinforcing its commitment to expand integrated logistics offerings in key emerging markets.
