NWSA November volumes fall

The Northwest Seaport Alliance (NWSA) reported total container volumes of 253,532 TEUs in November 2025, down 12.6% from November 2024 but up 8.4% from October 2025. Full international imports fell 19.4% year-on-year, while full exports dropped 16.9%. Year-to-date volumes stand at 2,918,676 TEUs, down 3.9% from 2024.

Domestic container volumes improved 2.5% compared to YTD 2024, with Alaska up 1.5% and Hawaii rising 7.7%.

Breakbulk volumes grew 10.2% month-over-month, although YTD volumes declined 16.6% to 303,162 metric tons due to tariffs and high interest rates. Auto cargo units rose 2.6% month-over-month, with YTD volumes at 249,251 units, down 20.3% amid slow nationwide auto sales.

NWSA also announced the winners of the first period of its Voyage Consistency & On-Time Arrival Award Program. The Gemini Cooperation’s WC4 | TP5 service (Hapag-Lloyd and Maersk) took first place with zero void sailings and an average of eight hours off proforma arrival. The Premier Alliance PN3 service (HMM, ONE, Yang Ming) placed second, and Swire Shipping’s Westwood service came third.
