Crowley introduces new business structure
Crowley has announced a strategic consolidation of its business structure aimed at improving efficiency, agility, and value for customers, as the company positions itself for accelerated growth across its core markets.
Under the new structure, Crowley has created two operating divisions: Shipping and Logistics, led by Executive Vice President and Division President James C. Fowler, and Energy, led by Executive Vice President and Division President Kollin Fencil. Both executives will report to Chief Operating Officer Megan Davidson.
Crowley said the realignment is designed to strengthen collaboration, streamline decision-making, and improve operational execution across the organisation.
“This realignment sharpens our capabilities to execute with collaboration and deliver excellent results for customers of Crowley,” said Davidson. “James and Kollin are proven leaders who understand our customers, our people, and our operations. By consolidating our structure, we enable faster decisions and greater agility to scale what works for our customers.”
Shipping and logistics division
The shipping and logistics division, led by Fowler, brings together Crowley’s logistics, land transportation, and global ship management businesses. The division serves both commercial and government customers and covers ocean shipping, inland trucking, multimodal transportation, warehousing, and integrated supply chain solutions.
“From farm to market, factory to retail, and depot to frontline, Crowley’s new shipping and logistics division ensures that our customers’ entire transportation value chain is managed by a single cohesive team,” Fowler said. “The division is structured to improve agility and execution while delivering safe, reliable, and efficient supply chain solutions that consistently exceed customer expectations.”
Fowler joined Crowley in 2023 as senior vice president and general manager of the shipping business unit. During his tenure, the company strengthened financial and operational performance and expanded its vessel fleet and service portfolio.
Energy division
The energy division, led by Fencil, combines Crowley’s fuels operations in Alaska, liquefied natural gas services, advanced energy solutions, tank farm operations, engineering services, and ship assist and offshore tug and barge activities. The division focuses on transportation, logistics, and infrastructure services for the energy sector.
“Energy is a growth engine for Crowley, and this structure allows us to scale faster and innovate across both traditional and emerging energy markets,” Fencil said. “For decades, we have supported the energy needs of the U.S. market from coast to coast and from Alaska to Puerto Rico. This realignment positions us to meet evolving customer demand, from conventional fuels to LNG and advanced energy solutions, with integrated capabilities and operational excellence.”
Fencil has led Crowley’s fuels business unit since 2023 as senior vice president and general manager, overseeing efficiency improvements and development projects across the company’s Alaska operations and its energy storage and distribution services for the U.S. military.
Crowley said the new divisional structure will support long-term growth by aligning leadership, operations, and customer solutions more closely across its shipping, logistics, and energy businesses.
