Gebrüder Weiss appoints Alessandro Cacciola to management board
Gebrüder Weiss has appointed Alessandro Cacciola to its Management Board. He will take responsibility for the Air & Sea divisions effective March 1, 2026. Cacciola succeeds Lothar Thoma, who will step down on March 31, 2026.
The company said the appointment ensures continuity while adding fresh leadership to its global air and sea operations.
“In Alessandro Cacciola, we gain an experienced leader who will further strengthen our air and sea business,” said Wolfgang Niessner, Chair of the Supervisory Board. “He brings both continuity and a new strategic perspective.”
Cacciola brings more than 20 years of international logistics experience. He began his career at Dachser, where he held several senior sales and management roles, including Head of Global Sales and board member of Dachser Air & Sea Logistics. In 2019, he joined the Andreas Schmid Group, later becoming CEO and leading its restructuring and international expansion.
“Gebrüder Weiss stands for quality, credibility, and customer focus,” Cacciola said. “My goal is to further develop the product portfolio with strong service quality, integrated solutions, and sustainable logistics to keep global supply chains resilient.”
Lothar Thoma has served on the Management Board since 2019. During his tenure, the Air & Sea division expanded across the United States, Australia, New Zealand, Southeast Asia, and Europe, navigating major market disruptions including the COVID-19 pandemic.
The company confirmed a one-month transition period to ensure a smooth handover for customers, partners, and staff.
Cacciola joins an executive team led by CEO Wolfram Senger-Weiss, alongside Jürgen Bauer and Peter Schafleitner.
