CMA CGM introduces PCS for Freetown
CMA CGM has announced the introduction of a Port Congestion Surcharge (PCS for cargo destined for Freetown, Sierra Leone, due to ongoing congestion at the port.
The surcharge will apply from 22 January 2026, based on the loading date.
The PCS applies to shipments originating from North Europe, the Mediterranean, Adriatic, Black Sea, and North Africa, and covers dry, reefer, and special cargo.
Under the revised measure, the surcharge has been set at USD 300, EUR 300, or GBP 300 per TEU and will be settled together with the freight. The surcharge applies to short-term contracts of up to three months.
CMA CGM said the measure is intended to address operational challenges caused by port congestion and to support service continuity for cargo moving into Freetown.
