Swire Shipping revises terminal handling charges at Tanjung Pelepas
Swire Shipping has announced a revision of terminal handling charges for import and export cargo moving to and from Tanjung Pelepas, Malaysia, following a review of its operating costs.
The revised Terminal Handling Charges at Origin/Destination (HTO/HTD) will take effect from 19 January 2026. For trade lanes regulated by the Federal Maritime Commission (FMC), the new charges will apply from 12 February 2026.
Under the updated tariff, charges will be applied in Malaysian ringgit (MYR) and vary by container type and specification.
For 20-foot containers, the terminal handling charge will be MYR 670 for standard units, MYR 970 for hazardous cargo, MYR 1,030 for reefer and reefer hazardous containers, MYR 670 for out-of-gauge units, and MYR 970 for hazardous out-of-gauge containers.
For 40-foot containers, the revised charge will be MYR 1,000 for standard units, MYR 1,315 for hazardous cargo, MYR 1,520 for reefer and reefer hazardous containers, MYR 1,000 for out-of-gauge units, and MYR 1,315 for hazardous out-of-gauge containers.
Swire Shipping stated that the adjustment reflects changes in cost levels associated with terminal operations at the port.
