AD Ports Group has signed a 30-year concession agreement with Aqaba Development Corporation (ADC) to manage and operate the Aqaba Multipurpose Port in Jordan. The port is the country’s only general cargo and multipurpose seaport.

The agreement creates a joint venture with AD Ports Group holding 70% and ADC 30%. AD Ports Group will invest AED 141 million (USD 38.4 million) and bring extensive port development and operational expertise. Operations are expected to formally begin in August 2026.

“This partnership strengthens economic ties between the UAE and Jordan and supports Aqaba’s growth as a commercial gateway in the Red Sea,” said Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, AD Ports Group CEO.

The port handles general cargo, grains, livestock, Ro-Ro, and project shipments. It has nine berths, a 2 km quay, and a draft of 13.5 metres, with an annual capacity of 11 million tonnes. In 2025, it handled 5.3 million tonnes of cargo and nearly 85,000 Ro-Ro units.

The joint venture marks AD Ports Group’s largest infrastructure investment in Jordan. It complements the Group’s ongoing projects in Aqaba, including the cruise terminal, Marsa Zayed tourism and business community, and the Maqta Ayla digital Port Community System.

With this addition, AD Ports Group now operates 35 ports and terminals across 11 countries.
