CMA CGM suspends all bookings for key Middle East ports

Following the ongoing developments in the Middle East, CMA CGM has announced an immediate suspension of all bookings for several countries in the region. Effective until further notice, the suspension applies to both Ports of Loading (POL) and Ports of Discharge (POD).

The carrier stated that this decision is a precautionary measure intended to ensure the safety of its crew, vessels, and customer cargo.

Affected Countries and Port Restrictions

The suspension impacts nearly all major gateways in the Upper Gulf, with specific exceptions made for key Red Sea and Gulf of Oman hubs.

CountryStatus of Booking Suspension
BahrainAll ports suspended
KuwaitAll ports suspended
QatarAll ports suspended
IraqUmm Qasr suspended

For containers that are already on board or ready to load at the port of origin, CMA CGM will not issue a general notice. instead, local offices will communicate specific information to each customer individually.

This broad suspension follows the earlier restriction on hazardous cargo, indicating a significant escalation in the carrier’s risk assessment for the region.
