CMA CGM implements Middle East inland Emergency Fuel Surcharge

CMA CGM has announced an Inland Emergency Fuel Surcharge (IEFS) for the Middle East, as rising fuel costs continue to impact supply chains.

The surcharge will take effect from March 23, 2026, subject to regulatory approvals.

Why It’s Being Introduced

Fuel prices are under significant upward pressure, affecting:

  • Inland transport operations across all modes

  • Overall logistics and container movement costs

These increases are driving higher expenses throughout regional supply chains.

Scope

The IEFS will apply to inland operations within the Middle East, where fuel-related cost pressures are most significant.
