IceChem Tankers’ partners seal deals for chemical tanker quartet newbuildings

Denmark’s IceChem Tankers reported that its partners TB Marine and Ektank have concluded newbuilding contracts for four chemical tankers of 22,000-dwt (marine line coated and 1A ice class) specifically designed for optimal efficiency in IceChem Tankers’ core trades in the North Atlantic basin.

The first ship will deliver in the fall of 2026 and the deliveries then follow every 3 months with the last ship coming in the summer of 2027.

“The ships are designed to be highly fuel efficient,” reads the IceChem Tankers statement. “Furthermore, they are ready to use green methanol as a fuel when same is available in a viable bunkering network for our trade and for this size vessel.”

IceChem Tankers was founded in 2018 to provide commercial pool management services for its partners who entrusted the company with a fleet of 10 x coated and 1A ice classed chemical tankers, ranging from 15,000 to 25,000 dwt.

Currently, the company has a fleet portfolio of 12 vessels -as shown in the data on its website- ranging from 16,878 to 20,528 dwt.
