Hartmann, CSL, Mibau Stema order self-unloading pair in China

Denmark’s Mibau Stema Group placed an order for two self-unloading vessels in the Chengxi Shipyard in China. The company, a European aggregates supplier to the construction industry, in partnership with Mibau Stema’s co-shareholder Hartmann family and Canada Steamship Lines (CSL), ordered the vessels for the groups fleet.

The vessels are expected to enter service in a 3-month window progressively from September 2028.

They will join Mibau Stema’s self unloading fleet, which plays a crucial role in delivering aggregates to markets across Northern and Western Europe.

“Our investment in these two new vessels is a clear commitment to our customers, our partners, and our environmental goals,” said Claus Boisen, CEO of Mibau Stema Group.

The two new units will have an increased cargo capacity, +3,500 tonnes, compared to the vessels Starnes and Fjordnes (delivered in 2020-2021), enabling each vessel to transport approximately 2.5 million tonnes per year.

As informed, the pair will have an enhanced discharging system capable of self-discharging at 5,500 tonnes per hour with a modified boom system and will be equipped with engines capable of running
