Axpo’s LNG delivery marks ‘inaugural’ STS operation for a boxship at the Port of Málaga

For the first time ever, Switzerland-based renewable energy producer Axpo has supplied a container vessel owned by compatriot shipping titan Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) with liquefied natural gas (LNG) at the Port ofMálaga, in Spain.

According to the Swiss energy sector player, MSC’s ship was powered up with 2,800 metric tonnes of liquefied natural gas in a bunkering operation that took place in mid-March 2025. The effort involved the work of a ship chartered from the UK-based midstream LNG & BioLNG company
