Silverback Marine Secures Contract for Innovative Petestep Law Enforcement Craft

Silverback Marine is thrilled to share its collaboration with teh Swedish firm PETESTEP to create a cutting-edge law enforcement vessel for the New Mexico State Parks Rangers. What caught our design team’s attention about PETESTEP’s innovative technology is how their unique SPRAYWATER shape diverges from conventional stepped hull designs. Instead of using steps, this approach employs angled deflectors that harness the spray energy produced by the hull while in motion.

This revolutionary design significantly minimizes G-forces—up to 50% less slamming compared to standard monohulls—resulting in an overall comfort boost of around 30%. Not only dose this enhance ride quality and reduce fatigue for operators, but it also improves speed and fuel efficiency by 35%, leading to substantial long-term savings for agencies.Our team dedicated over a year gathering insights from marine law enforcement officers and captains, focusing on layout preferences and common issues faced with conventional patrol boats.Two recurring concerns were operator fatigue and ease of beach landings. To address thes, we’ve designed an 18-inch wide bow door for straightforward access, along with non-marking fendering all around and ample shelter. The boat features SHOXS suspension seating, dual weapon lockers, plus WHELEN lighting systems complete with sirens.

With a top speed exceeding 60 MPH, this versatile 21-foot vessel is agile enough for various water conditions—from rivers and lakes to bays and even moderate offshore environments.
