Mumbai Metro Line 3 Moves Closer to Finalization with New Developments

INDIA: Exciting news from Mumbai! The underground metro Line 3 is almost ready to roll, with the Phase 2A extension set to launch on May 10. This new stretch will cover about 9.8 kilometers, connecting the bustling Bandra-Kurla Complex to Acharya Atre Chowk and adding six new stations that cater to various cultural, religious, and business hubs.

The first segment of this line, dubbed the Aqua Line, spans 12.4 kilometers from Aarey to Bandra-Kurla Complex and was officially opened by Prime Minister Narendra Modi back in October 2024. By August this year, we can expect the entire line to be operational with an additional Phase 3 stretching another impressive 11.3 kilometers all the way to Cuffe Parade.

Maharashtra’s Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis proudly stated during his ride from Bandra-Kurla Complex to Siddhivinayak for the Phase 2A inauguration that “this is India’s longest underground metro corridor.” he also shared aspiring plans for a sprawling metro network reaching up to a whopping hundred kilometers by the year 2027.

The trains running on this line are Alstom Metropolis models and are managed by Delhi Metro Rail Corp under a decade-long agreement with Mumbai Metro Rail corp.
